Just got a cnn e-mail saying 8 people died due to Tornadoes in Tennessee....Not sure where Columbia is in relation to Northwest Tennessee where reports are tornados hit?


Columbia, Tenessee......isn't that where 13 Prez James Polk was from????

I'm here and accounted form. 


For those of you interested, Columbia is about 45 minutes South of Nasvhille.  Yes, it's the home of James K. Polk.  The town is very proud of it's president as well as it's Civil War history.  There's several antebellum mansions to tour between Columbia and Nashville, home of Andrew Jackson.  We're also just a stone's throw from Spring Hill, TN, home of the main Saturn Car plant (Whew Whew!!)


Most of the tornado damage was in West Tennessee.  I have family in Western KY and heard they got it too.

My roses did not take it well- this is a shot of four of them- they were all perky this am



 
It is hard to tell, but this am the yellow rose bush was up to the top of the trellis!

BTW JD Ray I were chatting this am about meeting you three. My high school reunion is in 2007. I will be far to close not to make it somehow to meet you all in person! I think it about 100 miles or so away from Dylan's addy!

Well last time it was in the city, which was strange, because I grew up and went to school in the burbs! But it was a great time anyway! I will definitely be going and would love for the family to travel, but do not know if that part will happen- might be nice to be alone- I was for the last one! I will find out the date soon, I think the last one was in September or October.

Well, I made it through that storm too.  This one last Friday was closer though.  It hit in Gallatin, just north of Nashville.  I think there were 8 fatalities.  It went through some gorgeous subdivisions, demolishing some million dollar homes.  We got the hail and the rain, saw a couple of snapped electrical poles, but fortunately not tornadoes. Our hail was about the size of Ruby's, but some news reporters were showing some the size of softballs!!  They were holding them in the hand and they were the size of their palm!!

I did use some tomatoe tape and tried, so my roses will survive- but my bulbs did not make it through yesterday
