Product Review

Barefoot Cellars Pinot Grigio. This stuff is great! It is waaaaay too easy to drink. I'm already finishing off the bottle. It's the best Pinot Grigio, especially for a cheap brand, that I think I've ever tasted. And I just love the bottle:

Oh I like Barefoot wines! They're respectable for inexpensive wines, and none has let me down.

EDY'S SLOW CHURNED ICE-CREAM!

Has anyone tried this yet?!?!  I'm not an ice-cream nut, but OH MY GOD!

This is the BEST ice-cream I've ever had!

I bought it because our local food store has it on sale 2 for 1 right now (normally it's $6.00 a half-gallon) and because supposedly it's lower calorie and half the fat of regular ice-cream.

When I saw half the fat I thought "oh, this is gonna suck" but I decided to try it.

I got the American Idol TAKE THE CAKE flavor (which is yellow cake with frosting and jimmies) and COOKIE DOUGH.

I didn't try cookie dough yet, the the Cake stuff is amazing!  The flavor is JUST LIKE a piece of yellow cake, and it's the smoothest, creamiest ice-cream I've EVER had.

That includes the fancy ice-cream shops here in town!

I GIVE THIS STUFF TWO THUMBS UP!

Wineaux: person who drinks wine from a glass.

I buy a lot of cheap wine, maybe I should start reviewing all of them. I usually buy a bottle of red and a bottle of white every week. I had one a few days ago called Mediterranean Red that wasn't that good. It tasted cheap, like they just mixed a bunch of cheap dry reds together. There's still half a bottle in my fridge that's probably ready to be thrown out, it tasted slightly vinegar-y when I first opened the bottle, it's probably not any good now.

Oh, which reminds me of another product review! On weeknights, I usually don't finish a bottle of wine. I used to put the cork in and stick it in the fridge and drink it the next day, but it was never as good as when I first opened it. I tried a number of wine bottle stoppers, including a vacuum seal one, and there really wasn't much difference.  And then I got this one at Crate and Barrell.  It seals it perfectly and I can sometimes make a bottle of wine last 3 days and still taste the same as when I opened it!

I told the hubby last night I was quitting my job and drinking cheap! But half is all I can handle, but I probably will build up a tolerance. But for 2.50 a day I can drink and face my family!

Lock & Lock containers. I bought some for my flour, sugar, etc. and they work great!  They've got a seal around the lip, and these 4 flaps on the lid that snap to the container.  You can throw these things across the room and they won't come open, and I haven't got any flour bugs.

Those of you that wear or have worn BareMinerals-  did you get the bisque concealer too or was the foundation good enough for you? Checking my options again. lol

I do not use the concealer, but I do use a liquid under eye concealer that has anti aging benefits. But otherwise I use the foundation and the sheer veil stuff. The foundation covers well, and I have a horrible complexion, so I would think you would be ok. I like the veil to take off the shine- it works well- I have oily skin toohmm

It depends what you're using the bisque for. It's good for covering up blemishes. But I find it's not the right color to use for dark circles under my eyes, but that could be my skin tone.

Ruby, what's the under eye concealer you use? I used to have a big problem with darkness under my eyes before I found out about the corn allergy, but since I've stopped eating corn, they've gotten a lot better. Now I just use a bit more face powder underneath my eyes, but some days, I still need a little something more.

Maybelline instant age rewind- comcealer+ correction+ camoflaouge+lightening+brightening!

It is awesome- stays on all day, eye shadow smooths over it nicely and it does provide some anti aging visible benefits!

Hey JR- you need to get Revlon on the ball!

I picked up one of those pasta cookers on clearance at CVS a couple weeks ago.
perfecto.jpg

It sucks.  It'll cook thin spaghetti okay, but doesn't get any other type of pasta done enough.  Again, the thin spaghetti came out okay, but other shapes stick together.  And although it says it's dishwasher safe, it says it's not safe in commercial dishwashers because the temperature gets to high.  For something that you pour boiling water in, that's not too reassuring.  I haven't put mine in the dishwasher just because it doesn't fit too well (it's too tall), but it's already starting to get a bunch of tiny cracks from the heat.  I'm glad I didn't pay too much for it.

Ok I have been using Bare Minerals for a few weeks now and I love it! It took me a bit to get used to that type of coverage though. I was so used to the massive coverup that I had to convince myself that it was ok to let my skin breathe! lol! I am wondering though if some other products that I had samples are helping as well. Dr Murad toner and lotion. I would like to get those too but once again expensive and I don't want to push my luck! But I am very happy with the results! smile

Oh, this reminds me. A couple weeks ago my neighbor gave me a piece of a bath bubble bar from Lush. I tried it out and loved it! It smelled so good and the bubbles were so thick! And it's all natural. So I ordered some other stuff from Lush:

Figs and Leaves soap: It gets me so clean and smells so good, but not overpowering. It would be a good smell for a man or woman. But it's not harsh like some other all natural soaps I've tried.

Ultra Bland facial cleanser: I have combination skin too, so I have a hard time finding stuff that will me moisturizing enough for my cheeks but will clean my t-zone well enough. This stuff does that wonderfully! It feels kind of oily when I put it on, but right now my t-zone isn't oily at all.

Prince Orange Blossom shaving cream: Well, I got an awesome shave that lasted a bit longer than usual. But it took more work to get there. It has beeswax in it that just seemed to stick to everything, including my razor. It was near impossible to rinse off. And I washed the bathtub afterwards because it was so slick. I don't think I'll get this again.

I really want to try their bath bombs, which are kind of like bath fizzies times 10.

They have some stores, but I ordered from Lush's website.

Here's something that is obscenely expensive, but worth it: The RE9 skin care line from Arbonne. I started using it about a week and a half ago. I think it is wonderful! The little fine lines around my eyes are diminishing and my skin already looks much better. It's basically a 6 step process in the morning and a 5 step process in the evening, but it really does seem to make a difference. I know the cost of the set was $266 and they just raised the price, but you really don't have to use a lot of any one of the products so it would seem that this one set will last for months.

OSCAR MAYER: Deli Creations Hot Sandwich Melts

02293CL.GIF

I just tried my first one of these today and I can tell they will be a staple in my house.

PERFECT for a single guy like yours truly, these things are DELCIOUS and very filling.

The bread tastes fresh baked once you microwave it.  I had the Shaved Turkey Monterey which included the bread, shaved Turkey meat, Kraft Pepper-Jack cheese and two sauces (southwestern style ranch & Garden Salsa).

In the heating tray the bread got warm and soft, but not soggy.  It was a filling meal and incredibly tasty.

At 450 calories and 17 grams of fat it's a reasonable lunch or supper item.

I'm impressed!  10 out of 10!

Regarding the product review I did above.

One of the things I HATE about living alone is buying bread.

So much of it goes to waste.  I KNOW you can freeze it, but to me it's just not the same once it's been frozen.

So if I buy a loaf of bread or a bag of hamburger buns, I better eat a lotta sandwiches in the next 5 to 7 days or a lot will be wasted.

Now these Deli Creations feature a fresh roll of bread in them, and yet have an expiration date of almost TWO MONTHS!  How is that possible?  These aren't frozen, they're just refrigerated!

I suppose they're vacuum sealed, and that must be the trick (along with some preservatives baked in I imagine).  But that just seems really weird to me.

Could I vacuum seal a loaf of bread and get it to last another month?!?

Anyone know?

I freeze my bread too, cause we are not big bread eater's. I find if I let it defrost naturally (thaw, not toast) it seems okay, but you are right not that same. Maybe you should see what happens if you refrigerate a loaf of bread instead of freezing it!

i have never tried JR. I have a food saver and it has different settings but I don't know. I imagine that it would smoosh it.

Extra buns- remember you can always make garlic bread out of them. That's what we do most of the time.
