IT'S FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!

Happy Friday all! The weekend is here! Hubby has a euchre game tonight after work. I'll be there but I don't play. They deemed that body they found by my house a homicide and they have a guy in custody. He may be charged today. Phew! Have a good one all!

Friday? Really, it's Friday? I was beginning to think that Friday didn't exist. I thought Friday was a myth, like the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, that our employers tell us to keep us motivated. You mean Friday is really here, I don't have to come to work tomorrow?

Have a great day! Will get up to 90 today I think!

Oh yeah- that is $450.00 that he owes us! We made him pay us back last year for his other little issue!

But he thinks money grows on me too!

good morning, y'all.  it's gonna be another beautiful day, and the weekend is also looking good.  we will be busy, busy.  my man will be under the house finishing the plumbing for our bathroom (finally), and the boy and i will be applying water sealant to the siding.  i'm trying not to show excitement that our home might actually get finished this time around.  ah, well.  i have to get through today before i can start on tomorrow...  everyone, have a beautiful day!

What is euchre?

It's a trick-taking card game. I don't know much about it. I'm not really into card games.

I think euchre is the unofficial card game of Indiana. All you need for a party in Indiana is green bean casserole and euchre.

In euchre, only the 9 through Ace cards are used (ace high). There are 4 players, with 2 teams. The goal is for your team to take the most tricks. You win most tricks by having the highest card, but you have to play wait the suit laid by the first card.

But, before you start playing, every has the chance to call Trump (no, not Donald). Trump is the preferred suit. If you don't have a card in the suit that's being played, you can lay a card in the trump suit and it automatically trumps even the highest card of the suit that's being played, and you win the trick.

To make it even more confusing, in the trump suit, the cards have a different order. From lowest to highest: 9, 10, Q, K, Jack of the opposite same colored suit, and Jack of the trump suit. So, for example, if diamonds are called as trump, the order from lowest to highest is: 9 of diamonds, 10 of diamonds, Queen of diamonds, King of diamonds, Jack of hearts, Jack of diamonds.

In the beginning, each person is dealt 5 cards. This leaves 4 cards remaining, which are placed on the table in front of the dealer, and the top card is turned up. Then, going around the table, each person has to decide if they want the suit of the turned up card to be trump. If so, the dealer then exchanges the turned up card for another card in his hand, and play starts. If no one wants that suit to be trump, then the card is turned over, and going around the table, players have the chance to call any other suit as trump. Then play starts.

Then there's scoring. The first team to get 10 points wins (points are usually recorded using the 4 and 6 cards). If your team called trump and wins all the tricks in the hand, you get 2 points. If your team called trump and wins most but not all the tricks, you get 1 point. If your team did not call trump and you win the most tricks, you get 2 points. There's also "going alone." Going alone means that your partner sits out this hand, and you have to try to win the most tricks with your hand alone. If you win the most, but not all, you get 1 point. But if you go alone and win all the tricks, your team gets 4 points.

You really have to play it through to understand it, but there are 2 problems with learning euchre. The first is that there is always someone who wants to teach you strategy instead of teaching you the basics of play. The second is that there are some euchre fanatics who make up all sorts of crazy additional rules.

I like to play cards, but don't know a ton of different games.

I'm supposed to see Jani Lane tonight, but we're worried he may not go on.  He's been a no-show quite a bit lately.

Well, he's cancelled the show, so I guess I'll be having a mellow Friday night.  Guess it's better to find out now rather than after you've driven all the way there.

He's having some major substance abuse problems.

As for your story, I have seen Collin Raye live after knee surgery, and his leg was in a cast, and he spent the whole show sitting on a stool, and he ROCKED!  The show was still excellent.  I also saw Tyketto when Danny Vaughn had injured himself after skiing.  Even with his whole leg in a cast, he stood through the whole show, and was still one of the most amazing frontment I'd ever seen.
