It's going to be a hot raceday. Other than that, I've got some cleaning and shopping to do, and perhaps I'll take a dip in the pool.

it must be national heatwave day! chicago was well on its way upto 92 degrees when we left, seems really close to that here in brewtown!

We did set a record high today.

At 7:20pm, its still 97.

Speaking of the friggin hot day, of course, today was the first day we were going to turn our air conditioner on. Would anyone like to guess what happened? That's right class, it didn't work!!

That was this morning, so of course, the first thing we did was call the number for the maintenence guy to be paged. The operator told us she couldn't page him unless it was 85 degrees. It was 82 at the time, and today's predicted high was 90. So, as soon as the temp hit 85, we called again, and this time the maintenence guy was paged. It got up to 88 outside, and at least 90 inside our apartment. The guy must've had to finish watching the race first, because it was quite a while before he called back. He claimed that it wasn't 85 outside (which it was, and how much did it really matter, it was 90 in our apartment!), so he wasn't allowed to come fix it. (Does this sound like total BS to anyone else?)

The air conditioner was growing ice whenever we tried to turn it on, so I decided to try it one more time and get a picture (at this point I'm ready to A] call the corporate office, and B] find out where this guy lives and smash his air condition to bits). Of course, the one time I don't want it to work, it does. It's finally down to 80 in here. I'm still fuming.

Management for our community (or whatever you want to call it) totally sucks. I'll just get blown off like I always have, or they'll blame it on corporate (we live in a place that's owned by the same company as a bunch of other places). I plan to find numbers for someone in the main office and complain there. I used to like living here, but now I regret that I signed the lease for another year; this is just one of many issues recently.

We've had apartments before without air, but we're definately paying for it here, so I want my air! We probably wouldn't get out of our lease, we really don't have the extra cash at the moment for a deposit and a moving truck to move. I'm just mad that we're paying enough here that I expect a little higher level of service, but instead, it's been going down, and there's really no excuse for it. For example, it's just a little thing, but there's supposed to be flowers lining one of the walkways. Well, they planted all these flowers, which I'm sure we paid for, but they're not keeping them up. They're dying, and the gravel that used to be around them has been washed out into the parking lot for a few weeks now. There's one part of the parking lot that's dark and well away from the street, and people keep getting the windows of their cars broken out when they park back there, but nothing has been done about it, not even an extra light.

I plan to complain to the corporate office, and if that doesn't work, the housing authority. There's enough issues here, that I'm sure I can force them to fix if they don't do it themselves.
