Hi Ally,

It was a lot of fun. Our room was awesome- 24th floor corner room of Swissotel overlooking the chicago river on the one side, Millenium Park on the other. The hotel is triangle shaped, so the room was shaped like the corner of a triangle.

We went to go see the King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum, which was really cool. We then took this Chicagoland Gangster Tour bus, which was fun, but most of the stuff was "Do you see this parking lot? This is where the garage once stood where the St Valentine's Day Massacre took place..." But we did see the theater/alleyway where John Dillinger was shot, and a bullet hole still remains in the side of a church where a gangster was gunned down in 1924. It was neat tho to get to ride around Chicago, to get a feel for the parts of the city we never visited- west side/little italy.

Spent the evening walking around Navy Pier, went on the big ferris wheel there.

I really wish there was a bigger police presence at Union Station in Chicago. The beggars, hustlers and druggies are just everywhere "need a cab? need a cab?" thinking that it was actually a cab driver I said yes. Turns out its just some crack-head who leads you to a cab and wants a few bucks for putting your bag in the trunk. THe cabbies don't care.

One guy was trying to reason with me while I was in line for a coffee why I should give him a few bucks. I told him that I don't carry cash around here because there are too many druggies and beggars. He went away.

I actually checked out the Chicago City website for the Mayors Office and the CPD Police Department websites, thinking they might have some sort of "suggestion" link or "contact us to let us know of a problem" link. Yea right. Nothing of the sorts.

It is a well known fact that we have issues with some of the police up here in milwaukee. But I tell you, I never had a scumbag druggie beggar come up to me at the train station up here. I wish Chicago felt the need to protect its visitors from this scummy element better.

I mean I still really love Chicago. Its such a cool town. I just blame those in charge for not doing a better job with regards to this issue.

Can't wait to get the pics developed showing the view from the hotel room windows. Big beautiful town!

nah to the 1 hr photo thing! I have NEVER had one place anywherethat didnt' tell me "oh its broke, it will be 3 days...." and then riggs will have to scan them in & I bet the scanner is down during the remodeling!

I went with Chef. She bakes us treats that I bring into the studio on Sunday Nights. A jazz 101 groupie.

I am afraid I have no pics of me in my possession- at least not digital ones. I don't take a lot of pics. Maybe a few of the Chicago ones will have me in them.....like the one of me whipping the "bird" at Soldier Field!
