What's your favorite workout album?

Ok, I'm halfway through my biking for the day and needed to stretch the legs, so I thought I'd hop on the puter and ask this question.

What's your favorite workout album and why?

For me, when I was younger it was REO Speedwagon's WHEELS ARE TURNIN'. It kicks off with "I Do' Wanna Know" which is a major rocker, then the pace rises and falls throughout the entire CLASSIC album which I used to like particularly on the bike. Go hard for five minutes, slow down for five minutes, etc.

NOW THOUGH, I am CONVINCED there is NO GREATER workout CD than disc one of Meat Loaf's LIVE AROUND THE WORLD.

It absolutely ROCKS. The songs are all 10 to 12 minutes long so I've already got 30 minutes of hard biking in by the time I'm in song three.

I like to crank it up as loud as I think the neighbors can bare and then sing along as if I were meatloaf and it were MY concert.

By the end I ache, my throat hurts, and I'm drenched in sweat. But it goes FAAAAAAAAAAST and barely seems like exercise but rather an hour long fantasy come to life.

How about you guys?

I enjoy this album by Heino. It scares the bejebus out of me. my heart starts racing, I start to sweat- its a virtual workout without me having to anything other than listen. But usually at a certain point I have to run out of the room in fear. Thats good excercise!

I have no specific album. I use VHS tapes to workout with usually. If I did use a tape to walk to, I would have to make a mix cd. Sorry- no help!

This guy Dan from work burned me a copy of this Norweigan death-metal band. I have yet to have it find its way into any of my cd players. But I bet it would be good motivational listening for heavy-lifting.

I would also have a mixed CD. And I know you wouldn't agree with some of the songs. One of the songs would be Eminem-Lose Yourself. I used to listen to that in the gym and I totally cruised! I also during that time liked Justin Timberlake-Rock Your Body. I am not a fan of his, but it worked at the time.

I use my mp3 player now. But, before I had that, the soundtrack from Run Lola Run really helps me go faster and the time just speeds by.

I tend to go for some Guns 'N' Roses to work out too, or something else rock based.

Some of my favorite workout albums are:

Autograph - "Sign In Please"

Marvelous 3 - "Hey Album"

Erasure - "The Innocents"

Electric Angels - "Electric Angels"

Candy - "Whatever Happened To Fun"

Various Artists - "Tame Yourself"

I find any power pop you're into, like The Knack to be great for workouts.

And of course, the infamous mixed CDs, custom made by you, which are really the best.

That was a good movie!  And if you're doing cardio to that soundtrack & start to get tired, you can kick yourself in the ass for feeling totally lame just thinking about how that actress did nothing but run for weeks on end during filming.  Bet she started off 15 pounds heavier than she was by the end of that movie!

Oh yeah, Steinman is definitely great to work out to!

At the gym I go to, I usually just work out to whatever they are playing. I found the headphone wires got in the way of my workouts. I usually have no idea what the songs are, but they stick to that techno drum that I guess is supposed to mimic the rate at which you should be peddling, stepping, hopefully not pumping iron too tho....

its stuff like these guys listen to:

Steve and Doug Butabi (The Roxbury Brothers)

I HATE techno!  It's one of the reasons I couldn't deal with the classes at my gym.  Horrendous!  It doesn't make me feel like I wanna get up & go, it makes me feel like I'm having a heart attack.  Seriously.  Why do gyms think that is uplifting music?!  I could honestly get a better workout listening to Air Supply or The Carpenters.  AAAARRGGHHH!

I think if its not to speed up your repititions, its at least to speed you up to get off the machine because there are 4 people waiting to use it.

Now that sounds logical!

I don't have anything specific, but any Rockabilly music tends to get my legs and feet moving. Great for cleaning music too!

Good suggestion- Rockabilly would be perfect for working out! When I went to see Lee Rocker a few months back, it had my legs, feet, and everything else moving, and still was hours after the show! It's just the livliest music.
