Thanks for the World Cup, Ultimo & Pip...

I have to tell you guys that I've only been watching the World Cup because I read through the World Cup thread a few days ago.  I had NO idea what I've been missing! 


My son plays soccer so I kind of have an idea what it's about.  I just have never seen how powerful & beautiful soccer could be.  Man.  I'm hooked!  And so is my son.  We spent part of my surgery recovery time sitting on my bed, watching the games.  It's been so cool!


Thank you for teaching me...and my son!

I really don;t get to see much of it, but I'm still hooked. I need someone in my city who's hooked too so I can watch the games with someone (preferably who has cable).

Cable does help.  I watched the Mexico games on the Spanish language channel.  I only understood about every 4th word...but the announcers sound so much more excited.  It made the game that much more interesting.

My son has been in a premiere soccer league for the past couple of years.  This spring he's seemed kind of burned out.  I think watching these games together has not only brought the 2 of us together for quality time, but it has also renewed his interest in the game.  I'm so happy that he's remembering that this game shouldn't feel like a job.  THAT is the best part of the Cup for me.

I saw someone at the electronics store the other day streaming the match on one of the computers. It looks like the BBC only streams some of the matches, and I couldn't get it to work yesterday (although, that match may not have been available). Does anyone know of anywhere else I can watch the matches online?

Anyone who wants to be naughty and watch the England vs Trinadad and Tobago match, you can download the TVU Player (I downloaded it from FSi, but it was kind of a pain, so there's got to be an easier way) and watch it on ESPN2.

Man, Germany and Ecuador sure are an angry bunch... One guy just hit another over the head then claimed he didn't. I saw the reply, he so totally pummeled this guy!

Maybe I'll switch back over to the Costa Rica and Poland game, each just scored a goal. I swear, teams only score when I'm not looking!

You know, I've started to cheer for the place I'd rather visit. Costa Rica or Poland? I'd rather visit Costa Rica. Ecuador or Germany? I'd rather visit Germany.

But, that is trumped by places that I have friends from, including England of course, plus I have a neighbor from the Netherlands, and a friend of a friend from Serbia.
