As I type this I am still in shock that my father passed away today. He had a heart attack at home and was gone so suddenly that my mother did not know till she got home at 5.


My father was a good man who brought such joy to my mother. They had only been married 16 years.


please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I am fortunate to belong to a group that I can consider great and wonderful people.

OMG I'm very sorry to hear this too, Gary. Please take care of yourself and your mom. A lot of great people here care and will be shocked and saddened to hear this.

Gary,

I'm so sorry to hear this news. Of COURSE you and your family will be in my prayers. You know I lost my father last year, but I had time to prepare myself as best I could for the inevitable.

I can't imagine how it must feel to lose someone so suddenly. If there's anything you need, even just someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to contact me. I don't know that I could be much help, but I can certainly sympathize with what you are going through.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.


We are going to have him  cremated ( his wish) but we go to the funeral home today.


 


On a bright note.


I have an interview today at DirecTV which is a satalite company in the Customer service department


and another interview tomorrow for another call center.

Gosh Thump, I am truly sorry for the loss of your father. I pray that he is at peace and watching over you. May you find comfort in that he is in a better place. I hope that you two were on good terms and that you will have the strength to help your mom be strong. I will continue to pray that you find gainful employment too.

There just aren't words adequate to express how sorry I am for your loss, Thump.  My father passed away two and a half years ago.  He wasn't in the best of health, but we didn't have any reason to suspect he would die when he did. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Peace upon your father's soul.

I too lost my father unexpectedly. It was about 9 years ago. He was at work and no one is sure what happened. They think he must have had a heart-attack. He was still young. He was left alone when he wasn't suposed to be. We weren't on good terms, so I had a lot of trouble with all the things that we didn't get to resolve. In any case I feel for you and I am here for you as I'm sure everyone else is too.

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.  My uncle actually came from El Paso today so he is at my mothers now. I went ahead and came home so I could prepare for my other interview tomorrow.  My fathers daughter came over today from Arkansas and I kept my opinions to myself. I think she was scoping out the house to see what should wanted. We are having a kind of viewing on Friday so I will be there at that time.


 


 


I thought my interview today at DirecTV went extremely well but alas I got an email from them declining me a position.  I hope tomorrow goes better. At least at that time I will find out if I get it or not. It would be immediate hire so wish me luck.

I feel for your hard times here. one or the other is more than enough to bare, and here you are suffering a completely new world for you 2 fold. Be strong, be who you are. It has got to be so hard interviewing now.  Be honest about it, and be strong. I had to bury my grandpa a decade ago, and I to this day I still find strength in asking "what would  Phil do here" when confronting something that seems bigger than me. That is legacy. That is the power of family. Asking the legacy for its collective wisdom, advice; knowing and loving the person enough to have that conversation in your head; knowing exactly what they would say anyhow; using that power of imagination and love that they bestowed upon you in the first place, to help you move on.


what would your dad have to say here, what would he say if he could ? what is he trying to say here...


Gary, undoubedly you will feel your dad's presence in the days to come. Allow yourself to feel that. Its real. It is real. And all this presence is  trying to do is comfort you now. Let it. And let this precence, your dad say his good bye. Quiet your mind to a place where you allow yourself to feel this.  


I all of a sudden sound like a preacher or an expert, and i am sooo not; Please don't see this as anything other than me telling you what I have experienced or felt. All I have to go on is my experience of loss and I try to convey the confort I found here.


Try and let all this that is about to happen to happen without too much internal chatter carrying you off somewhere not here, gary. Be in these moments. Be the ears, the eyes, and especially the heart during this. Feel it. You'll discover the stirrings of your soul, my friend. And that's what this whole ride is about.
