The city I live in, West Allis, is having a sale today at City Hall. They're selling old computers and office equipment DIRT CHEAP.
Bought a nice office chair for TWO BUCKS! Bought a 24 computer hub for $10.00
I also purchased two computers for $5 each! I might go back and get more of these.
They are old computers, with slower processors and not much memory, BUT, I think I could fix them up enough to be able to just play our station.
Then I'd like to hit some of the local used CD stores and offer them a computer to play our station along with the necessary wiring to get it done in exchange for A) obviously playing us in their store and B) leaving our flyer display on their counter-top.
I figure it would only cost about $20 a store to set this up if I can get the computers at this price!
We had one of those county auctions here a couple years ago. They had quite a few computers. I was looking in them ahead of time and they were stripped of memory, some had no hard drives, etc. People were buying them thinking they were getting good usable computers. I felt sorry for them.
Its good that they didn't do that at the auction you went to.
