ruby I am soooo pleased. money well spent- my 1 perk! cleaning service. I always had it clean enough, "guy" clean, but she did a great job! I think the place is cleaner then when I first moved in even. she even murphy's oil soaped the woodwork, and had this special leather cleaner for the couch. I am sooo grateful and impressed!

the big work is done, we had both thought mext month will mainly be maintenance and detailing. the whole place smells clean, fresh, the kitchen floor was never sparklier!

I am happy for you. I worked with my friend for a while she runs her own cleaning business. I hated it, but I know we made people happy. Nothing like coming home to a clean house. It makes it easier to keep up with the daily clutter.

Now that the boy is older he has become my cleaning man! The hubby does not clean, but tells me all the time to hire someone. I just would not feel right. But if I was a single guy, I know I would do it if I could afford it. How much did she charge for the first cleaning and how big is your apartment? You do not have to answer the money question if it is out of line.

no- not a prob. I did research and the merrymaids would have wanted $40 for a monthly deep clean and maintenance. so that's what I paid my friend. I want to make it worth her time for coming over here and doing this; pay the going rate. She spent 3 hrs yesterday. Plus I like the idea of someone I know and trust over here doing this.

The place is a nice size. big living room, dining room, kitchen, hall, 12x12 bedroom, bathroom. The building was built in 1929, and this was the landlord's suite for a bunch of years I am told.

oh I did store cleaning and floor waxing for a couple of years in college with a friend of mine. I hated it too. 5-7 am, 3-5 am for this other store if I wanted time and 1/2. The hours worked so I took it. the 3-5 am store was open 24hrs- it was a drugstore on the east side. There was not a creepier place to be in town than that place that time of night!

Being the cleaning person was the one chance store clerks had to feel superior over anyone. I guess I wasn't humble enough for one of the store owners either and we lost that account. opps.

Gosh you got off good. She would have probably charged 60 to 75 the first trip. Then depending on the number of times she came each month, she would charge 30- 45. but we cleaned real deep the first time- frig, oven, and baseboards, etc...

yea- thats kinda what we agreed on too- that flat rate. she knew going into it that everything would need a good scrub-down. but now that that's done, if next month is a cake-walk for her, so be it!

oh and I had her do nothing with the bedroom. I have got sooo many clothes that I am going through and sorting out in there- that's my project. its like a tornado, but how clean the rest of the apartment is inspires me to get that done. At best, once that is done, a quick 2 minute dust mop (hard wood floor) and a feather-dusting will be all that needs.

And I promised her I would clean up any messes I make asap! It was really just getting to that starting point where I was doing so in a clean apartment that I dreaded!

lol I was too tired from the overtime at work to clean! so a part of that OT money is what I use to pay her! It is easier to stick around another hour or so at work than it is to go home to mop!

I got the same raise here that I always get. 100%. o sure, he might whine "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT A SUNDAY OFF!?!?" but in theory the 100% a year raise is worth it. That speaks volumes. the problem is that the second multiple is a GOOSE EGG!
