? For The Allycat

I've often wondered this about everyone's significant other. I know Web's wife has heard JD & I on the air once in awhile and made fun of our supposed accents.

But I'm curious what Mz's Brian, or Web's wife, or Woo's husband, any of them really, think about the forum family.

Since you didn't come onto the forum for more than a year after Sparky was already here, you probably have some insights.

Did you think he was nuts for spending time on the forum? Or didn't he really talk about it?

I know Webguy said he'd tell his wife some of the stuff that was going on with the forum when they'd be having dinner and she kind of thought he was nuts for caring. But he told her how we were like friends now.

So what did you think?

at first I thought it was ok and then after a while he got to where he didn't want me seeing it, I think he was having an affair with Web. I only really ever got on here to see what he was spending so much time doing when I was working. Its crack I tell you crack!

Well, I'll tell you. It made me a little nervous at first.

I was worried Sparky would change because he had you around to see what he said.

But it didn't take long to see that you guys have a lot of fun together and it wasn't going to change anything too drastically.

Really, the only change I've noticed is he has a curfew now

I'm not the curfew nazi, its him. I hear every day how tired he is because he doesn't get enough sleep.

Of course!

If Sparky had not wanted you here at the beginning I would have respected that. i think there's a lot of couples that probably couldn't both be on the same forum like this.

You know, you say things on here, but since you can't hear the persons tone and stuff it's so easy to take something the wrong way.

But you've been a huuuuuuuuge addition to the forum. You're a lot of fun, and really, we only have maybe 12 - 20 members who REALLY get involved on a daily basis, and you're obviously one of them.

So I'm glad you're here

We don't turn anybody away.

Well, except that Jehovah's Witness that kept asking us to convert.

All we ask of anyone is that they bring their own unique personality to the mix. You have accomplished that!

Brian's not much of a computer guy, so he just shakes his head and thinks it's one of those computer things that he doesn't understand.

Hubby just doesn't get it. He has expressed that he doesn't want to get it. But he has laughed when I've told him a few things that we have talked about. The worst thing is when all I have to refer to you guys as is your forum names. He usually gives me a weird look. But I think that's the " oh you are talking about those forum people again" look. As some of you know I've been having a hard time with him lately when I'm on the computer. He's been getting an attitude. I believe that I know what part of the problem is and it's not personal towards you guys. Hubby doesn't trust these things because many people we know have done a hookup from the net. My sister is one of them although she will not admit it. She was still married and I believe having an online affair. I don't know if it was the same guy but I do know someone got her info and called her at home. And although I believe that he trusts me, he doesn't trust other people. And made it clear that he wouldn't put up with the calls at home and such. I'm making him sound bad and he's not. He's great! We just disagree on this area. And

Woo, I don't think you made him sound bad.

As long as he trusts you, that's what's important. But he can still be concerned about other people on the net, and with good reason. There's a lot of strange people out there. Originally that's why I never gave my real name on the air. If you have someones real name it's just too easy in this day and age to get a phone number and an address, or MORE!

I think that's why Sparky & Ally's situation is kind of cool. Because they both know we're a harmless bunch of dufuses and they can share the forum.

Yeah, my husband knows that I can take care of myself and wouldn't put myself into a dangerous situation, so he doesn't worry about it. I talk about the forum just like I would talk about hanging out with friends.

That's kind of how I view it Molly. I think of it like long-distance friends.

Even Erica, when we went to breakfast bingo Wednesday was telling me how after reading the forum for a week or two she felt like she knows you all you're all kind of like friends now (even though she doesn't chat much on here).

I do see where he is coming from Woo, I know it was kind of in the back of Ally's mind before she joined the forum. After she joined and met everyone it was clear that yes we are just a bunch of dufus's.

It's weird. I had a lady that worked for me who was also a dispatcher and studying to become a paramedic. During 9-11, she was worried about her firefighter friends who were part of a forum she was a member of and hadn't checked in. At the time, I thought she was nuts and couldn't understand why she was so worried about these people she never met.

Now I understand. We have a dynamic here that I've never seen on any other forum. I even have a plan in place should anything ever happen to me, I've told my husband to give one of a few forum members a call.

That's cool Molly!

You're right about the dynamic. It's almost like a self-policing thing. We've managed to have great people here and the real idiots either don't join at all or they leave quickly after they do.

I have never been away from the forum longer than one week since I joined, now that Ally and I are both on here if we are ever gone for more than a two week period or if something happens to me. One of my co-workers and I have a forum agreement, if she goes I will let her forum know and vice versa.

My wife either trusts me, or just doesn't care . . . I'm not sure which. She's never shown any concern in who I might be talking to.

I know she thinks I "waste" a lot of time here, but that is not related to the forum. If I spent that time collecting stamps, she would feel the same way about it.

I tell her some of the funny stuff and some of the sad things and she knows you guys are my friends now, so its not much different than if I'm telling her about someone here in town I know.

Back awhile ago when I was gettting frustrated with the direction things were going here, I was telling her everything that was going on and at that time, she couldn't understand why I wouldn't just turn it off.

She has no interest in computers after work. As long as she can go to Keith Urban's site now and then, she's happy. Other wise, she'll ask me to pull up weather radar or Google something for her and thats about her extent of computer use at home.

As far as listening, I put FFR through the home stereo a lot on Saturdays. As long as the mix is pretty "normal" she enjoys it. She has enjoyed listening to some of the special things like the "top 10" and some of those too.

I think when I hit it big in the lottery I'm gonna send every listener the $3 cable they need to hook their computer up to their stereo.

Once you listen to internet radio through your stereo I think you're really hooked. It can be every bit as good as FM radio.

I was just at Radio Shack and they have 40 foot cords now for that purpose! Which is cool because in the past I always had to have a laptop within about 4 feet of my stereo to use it (although I still do that anyway so I can request from where the stereo is).

That's what I did . . . I've got a 20' extension cable that I ran all the way around from my chair to the stereo. It works great.

Most of the time when I listen in the evening, I'm on headphones so the boy and Mrs Web can have what they want on TV.

You don't have a stereo!?!?!?

Yeah, I'll throw a stereo in too. But what's your husband gonna think then?!?! Some guy sending you a stereo!

I'll tell you what. We'll hold a contest where the first person with the forum name Woo Hoo 22 to call in wins a free stereo. Then you can tell him you won it off the radio!

See. I'm what you call a problem solver. Oh, and a wise-a*s. A problem solving wise-a*s, that's me

Hey, is 22 you're age? If so does that mean next year you're gonna have to be Woo Hoo 23?
