Wow!

I had no idea it was so close to you guys!

Can you see it in the sky at all yet? The smoke I mean? I would think if the wind were blowing your way (which it usually is) you would start seeing the smoke.

They are scary.  We have a fire raging over the mountain range.  The smoke was so thick it actually caused the Las Vegas airport to shut down several times for a few hours each.  The wind started blowing it towards us.

I'll tell ya CP, that would freak me out.

We're very lucky to live in WI. No real routine weather or natural disasters here. The occassional tornado, but thats REALLY rare and such a pinpoint strike.

Everyone else has to deal with hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires. 'sconsin is looking pretty good to me right now

Yea, this fire is really close.  It is just on the other side.  I will have to take a picture from my house.  It looks like a neuclear bomb went off becasue of smoke shape this morning.  Several substations have lost power.  Luckily we have been spared here and hope it continues.  It is supposed to be 118 today.

That's how I feel about Michigan. Boring but safer.

Yea, this one is now up to over 70,000 acres.  I think 250 homes gone.  There are freeways shut down from time to time.  The smoke is really bad today.  Ususally we can see 10 to 15 miles the air is so hot and clear.  We are down to one mile today.

JD, Ally said an hour and a half away. So I'm thinking if she's basing it on Sparkys driving it's about 45 miles away. If she's basing it on her driving it's probably about 120 miles away.

I am not sure by actual miles (guessing 5 miles away as the crow flies) becasue it is on the other side of the mountain range we look at.  But today the smoke is bad.

its about 90 miles by highway according to google, but alot less than that really. You have to go way out of the way with I-90 and the way they say.

CP, do you think they will soon or just if it gets really close? here it practically has to be knocking on your door before they tell you to leave.

the smoke smell is bad enough, the burning urine would be worse.
