Ever a member of BMG?

I read this in Spin magazine tonight. I was a member sometime in the 90s so I am going to give this a shot. I got a thirty dollar check from Columbia House a couple years back for the same thing!

The Action was filed on August 20, 2004. The complaint alleges that Defendant engaged in deceptive, misleading, and unfair marketing and sales practices in regard to its shipping and handling charges and its advertised cost to consumers of its CDs and cassettes.

REALLY? You mean it doesn't cost $6.95 to ship a single CD via media mail?!?!

Next you're gonna try to tell me that $18.95 "regular club prices" are inflated unreasonably!

I just wonder how those businesses have survived this long!? It makes no sense. With the internet and downloading, is ANYONE stupid enough to go to a music club?

I was tempted many times, but I never did sign up.

I used to sign up almost once a month when I was building my CD collection. BMG was the best because you only had to buy one.

I'd get my six free (actually it would be like $22.00 in shipping and handling), then buy my one at regular club price ($26 after shipping and handling) then get six more free ($22 in shipping and handling).

Wind up paying 70 for 13 CD's. That was still a deal, even if they were cheating you on the prices.

I'm surprised they can do anything about this though. I thought legally the "handling" was a gray area where they could get away with pretty much anything.
