Girl's thread

Ok, just us girls again! How about purses? Do you carry one? Big or small?

I tried the small purse thing for a bit, but always go back to the mom purse! I do not care if my purse matches my outfit. I have a black and white one, it has zebra and cow prints on it, right now I have been dragging for a bit. I carry too much stuff in it, but if you need something- I probably have it! Dental floss, scissors, compact, etc...

i've been carying a fanny pack since last Christmas.  always around the holidays i transfer my purse to a fanny pack for security reasons.  i've just never switched back.  and when i go on vacation i do the same.  since i'm getting ready to go on vacation, i'm good to go.  i can't cram as much in a fanny pack.

oh, and i must share this little tip i learned from ma-in-law.  when i go to the grocery store, i attach the child restraint through my pruse handles so purse snatchers can't very easily take it.

I hate purses but am forced to carry one. It usually wound up that I would put everything in my jacket in winter and leave the purse at home, but come summer I would start carrying a purse again because I'd end up with pants or a skirt without pockets. I was carrying a tiny purse that was a pouch about the size of a pocket.

But now that I have to carry the epi pen, I had to go from tiny to just small. I only do one purse at a time, I don't change to match my outfit. This purse is black with a zippered pocket in back, a drawstring pocket on each side, and a velcro pocket in front that also has a braided accent and a wooden ring. The pull for the inside pocket also has the wooden ring, and it just has a short handle that's attached with silver rings.

I do the same thing DS! I read that somewhere years ago- and I am bad about staring at the aisle and being clueless about my cart!

I hate purses! But I have them. I can't find a decent size. I feel like Goldilocks. Right now mine is a black medium purse with different compartments.

Must have a big purse, because I take my camera everywhere I go.  Plus lots of other stuff!

I also don't care if it matches - I always get black, so figure that should match everything.  (I'm so low-maintenance, I swear...)  And I will use the same purse until it literally falls apart.

Except for concerts:  I have a "concert purse", which is smaller & has just the necessities for that night in it.

I also love the fannypack!  What a great invention, and to think - all those years, just roadies had them, and not the general public!  They're great for lots of walking - like days at themeparks or carnivals, or just walking for exercise - can put your carkeys & a few other necessities in there.  I use them a lot while on vacation, or if I'm working video at a concert, and need to be completely mobile & not worrying about the location of my purse.

I carry a black backpack about everywhere I go. Does that count as a purse?

I don't think so, although it does sort of the same thing.  I don't find them comfy.

Mine's not bad. I can haul a load of crap in it though. I pretty much run my internet business out of that backpack.

If you're looking for a particular type of bag, check out ebags.com they have about anything you could ever need. That is where I got my backpack and it's been great.

Whoa, that's the high end purses! I prefer the blue light special. I don't think I've ever spent more than $20 on a purse. I spent $40 on a backpack once, but that was because my old ones would only last a couple months. I bought that one and I still have it.

I think I paid about $80 for this backpack . . . but I've used it every day for over a year and its not showing hardly any wear other than external scuffs and scratches. Mechnically, it is as sound as the day I got it.

I wish there were such acceptable things as man purses. my pockets are always filled with junk, a briefcase in non-business situations is wierd, and back-packs must be left at the front counter when you want to go shopping!

I agree. It's only fair. I don't know how that became a 'female only' thing. And never changed...

I agree, too. Plus it makes me carry more than I want to! If the hubby had his own purse, mine might be a bit lighter!

I admit it would take awhile to get used to tho. with pockets, I always know my wallet is in this one, and the keys are in that one.

I think now that most people stopped using checks, it might not ever happen. I never understood carrying your checkbook in our back pocket- looked very unsafe.

There's messenger bags now. And those soft sided breifcases meant to carry your lap top in. They're smaller than a backpack, you could probably get away with it.

Personally, I was always a fan of Ford Prefect and his satchel...

With my purse, my keys are always in the same zipper section, $ in its own zipper section, etc. You can still be organized...

I wish Sparky would carry a man purse, then I wouldn't have to carry his keys, sunglasses and anything else he might want me to stuff in the never ending abyss.

That was the first thing I thought of. Try carrying your keys in those. Ouch. I carry a purse that is black and brown and it's medium sized. I recently cleaned it out because it was causing shoulder strain (and I had to go through airport security). I carry a handy dandy screwdriver that has a level and a flashlight in it (great for screwing in the dark) and all kinds of other stuff that I knew wouldn't make it past security. It was so much lighter that I almost threw it the first time I grabbed it. It's slowly filling back up, but i have another business trip on the 8th, so I'll have to clean it out again.
