Happy birthday !

We had a great time of Pambo's b-day.  Since it was the BIG 4-0, I decided to go all out.  She loves those chocolate gem donuts... the ones that taste like they are covered in chocolate wax... so I bought her a bag of those. Though she is not a fan of cut fresh flowers, I did get her a couple pink roses.  For her actual present I bought her a white gold necklace with a diamond slide pendant.  I figured what the heck?  She deserves it with all she's been through in the last few years, not to mention having to put up with me and all the nonsense going on in my world. Also got her 3 different b-day cards because I couldn't decide which I liked best. Just for having to deal with me, she deserved the chocolate, roses, and diamonds. 

Her daughter took us to lunch at a really good italian buffet.  That was super nice of Suz given that she is the world's pickiest eater, therefore didn't actually eat much of anything there herself because it was "too weird". 

Out of all of it though, the thing I am most proud of is that I actually "peer pressured" Richard into getting her a much better present than what he had initially planned.  He was going to get her a new washing machine (how romantic... NOT!!!) until she called to tell him that I bought her a necklace.  He thought it over and decided that if he wanted to live through the night, he would take her out to dinner and give her an i-Pod nano and a gift certificate for a day spa.

He has yet to go for the toaster, which is surprising.  I'm given to understand that the blender is an actual health hazard... duct tape holding pieces on and all.  

I think last year he gave her a vacuum cleaner. One time it was concrete steps up to the front porch. Richard is definitely a guy... practicality rules. 

As for me, best friends just don't come along every day.  I'm blessed with two of them. I'm firmly convinced I couldn't live without either of them. I definitely would have lost my mind here recently without them.  They both have gone above and beyond for me, so I am looking for any excuse to do good by them.
