RE: I was just in a car accident.....

man this sucks guys. why buy something nice if some bonehead is inevitably going to be a dumbass and ruin it. I mean it sounds like quite a few of us have been in wrecks, not our faults, but something we earned, work for, pay for is ruined. thank god we are all ok, but I'd hate to revert to friggin pieces of $#* because OTHER people suck and and prevent me from buying something nice and reliable. Its like what "I should surround myself with garbage because johnny numbskull is just going to Sh$t on what I have anyway, he has nothing to lose because how do you get something from nothing, and all I have to lose is money on a higher insurance rate, and a lesser resale value on my car....."

The only time I did the nobody calls the police, no insurance thing was when some schmuck driving illegally across a parking lot hit my bumper.  I was driving a '95 Taurus LX, he was driving a BMW 325I.  His car had about a basketball sized dent from where my bumper hit his front quarter panel.  My bumper was scuffed a bit and had a small crack but the wost damage I took was a broken turn signal light.  At the time Kev was working for an auto parts store, so getting the light fixed was really cheap.  I paid my bill, dude paid his. I just didn't feel like waiting on the police and I figured since dude was begging me to not call them that he probably didn't have insurance anyway.

Given the damage you describe, I would say the car definitely needs to go to the dealership to get fixed on the other person's dime.  If you think he's good for the money, then don't call your insurance. If you even remotely suspect he might not be able to cover it, then go the whole nine yards.

Glad you are okay!

so I just get a call from the company this guy said insured him. He lied, he does not have a policy with them.

So I called and left a message at his work. I want cash. Tomorrow.

I figured the guy was a liar with three speeding tickets in five years the only place that would take him would be a high-risk place and he'd be paying TONS every year.

Now he has one more thing keeping him from getting insurance.
