I used to live for concerts and live music. I can count on one hand how many I have been to recently. We do have a fairly new coliseum here that NO ONE comes to! I looked to see what is coming up:


 


Wiggles- 33.50


George Carlin- 58.00


Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA (not sure what that even is, but:) 158.00- 294.00

I do NOT mean to rub it in....but.....


Black Crowes comin up Aug 3rd.....might go to that.....


get this, they're GIVING away free tickets to the Sammy Hagar thing tomorrow night. Its a big old Cabo Wabo thing with all sorts of stuff goin on.....I'm not that big of a sammy fan, but heck thats almost too good to pass up.....

He is friggen hysterical,  but for a lot less, I could hang out here and get Web and Sparky to entertain me or I could rent Carlin's lastest DVD!

George Carlin is my favorite comedian, and while I enjoy watching his HBO specials, there is something really amazing about seeing him live (which I've done 4 times)

We have seen carlin twice in the past few years for free. Sparky and his radio contests... He always wins. (when he doesn't have ffr of course)


 


I would like to take little to the wiggles but we don't even get the wiggles.

"Aida" is the musical based on the opera. Tim Rice wrote the lyrics, and Elton wrote the music. I saw it on Broadway with Micky Dolenz in a big role. He was awesome, and yes I'm biased, but seriously - he was awesome! The musical was so -so. Not something I would recommend (You know, unless Micky is in it or something.)

thats what it cost here for those that paid for the last lame show. He was getting ready for his hbo special and used us to practice. He was not very funny when reading everything off note cards and timing himself for every joke.

We have one club that has some bands- like that is where I saw cheap Trick years ago- but they never have anyone anymore. Some wrestling crap is on their site.


 


There is a small local scene, but I am not into the bar thing- I just wanna go to a concert once a month or even year!

I hate bars, and I'm not into the local scene either.  We do have some good clubs around here, plus we're not far from NYC, so I'm lucky there.  You need to move, woman!

I went to my first concert in 15 years a couple of months ago. I went to see Fall Out Boy and the All-American Rejects and some other bands. It was so much fun. I did get into a argument in the pit, though. Don't know if I told y'all about that. Anyway, I've been itching to go again, but my hubby doesn't like me going. I wanted to go see A.F.I. and take my cousin, Lauren, but it was a no go. I will wait for one that I really, really want to go to and push hard for it. I have to know when to pick my battles. I wanted to go see the Goo Goo Dolls when they were here, but I didn't have anyone to go with. My 6 year old would have went with me, but it's just not the same. Sigh. It's hard to love music that my husband hates.

I love the bar scene and will be going out this weekend with the girls. I say bar scene, but it's really just a little tavern in a small town of 1100 people, so it's not like some huge bar that there are hundreds of people milling around. I can walk there and crawl home. Gotta love small town life.

yea I am not big on bars anymore either. really fun when you are in your 20's, or like during football games or if there's a good band.....but them bouncin clubs with the Techno BOOM, 2000 21 yr olds packed in to drink warm beer....nah. Its nice to grow up sometimes...

Never liked them.  Hate smoke, don't like alcohol.  I've only ever gone to see a band.

My hubby doesn't like me going because he doesn't understand my love affair with music. He also doesn't like me going anywhere where there are men without him. It's a whole jealousy/trust issue/insecurity thing. He says he trusts me, he just doesn't trust other men, blah, blah, blah... It's the same old story. That's why I pick my battles.

I go to the local tavern about once a month, if possible. I go and dance my stress away. It's nice to go out and be just Trish. Not the bizatch at work, not the bizatch at home, just Trish. I like her. She's fun. It's good to talk to her sometimes.

Absolutely.  When he's asleep tonight, give him a purple nurple for me, and when it wakes him up, pretend to be asleep.  I think it might make me feel better about this situation...

Okay I spent a long ttime today looking for local venues around here and who is playing. I do see that Better Than Ezra and Edwin McCan are coming next month (not together). Edwin is playing on a Friday and Saturday night- $20 a piece. If the hubby agrees- I am there! (I want him to go with me, I do not ask permission- he knows better!) Woo hoo- might get a concert fix. It is in a bar though, but the bar is on the beach!

I go see local music all the time (and more than just the Wina-Freds), but it's rare that I'll shell out the money to go see the pros. That's the great thing about living in a college town, there's a lot of unsigned talent.

And JD, I was so going to go to the Sammy concert!!! He was here last Friday, but we figured we should save the money for our anniversay instead. I love Sammy and would've loved the Cabo Wabo thing!
