this will give you guys an idea of how big this is, we live right in the edge of summerset against the hills. The fire started near the exit we take 51 and its now burning the worst between 46 and 48.

its really not that far when you look at it here but its a good 4 miles long. Its not real wide its just kinda following the ridge line.

no this just started today, maybe last night from the t-storm. It just blew up about 2:00. My uncle was the first firefighter on the scene and is now on structure protection, they have lost a few already. I hope he is safe, he called awhile ago and said he was surrounded by fire trying to save a house.

You know, this is a big problem every year out west.

We should all get together with CP, who has already patented a product and brought it to market, and come up with something to protect homes in this type of situation. We could be rich.

What about a huge tarp like they have at ballfields. It could just sit there rolled up all the time, but if a wildfire is near you pull it over the entire house. It could be made of a fireproof material, and you'd need some way to actually get it to go over the house with some ease.

It's just a starter idea. We could put our heads together and come up with something here!

There is a thing that you put out on your roof and if it gets hot enough it sprays fire retardant foam over your whole house. Most people are pretty good about keeping dead tree's and brush cleaned away from their homes and that helps alot. If its green and nice around it can't burn really hot. Our trees are all far enough away from the house and we have asphalt shingles so we are pretty "fire safe" if such a thing exists.
