Are you loyal to your BRANDS?

I was thinking about this as i did some food shopping today.

I'm very loyal to some product brands. Like Aunt Jemima Pancake mix is the only type I'll buy. Or Coke products, NEVER Pepsi.

But when it comes to thinks like Laundry Detergent and Toothpaste I'll get something different every time. It's not even based on price, it's just whatever I decide to pick that day.

I know we had this discussion once before and asked about generics and if anyone bought them, but with so many new people around now I'm curious for some more peoples take on the subject.

I know JD is NOT brand loyal to beer, but he WON'T go cheap!

When I'm loyal to a brand, it's mostly for allergy reasons now.

Some of that expensive stuff is crazy though! You feel like you're wiping your bum with a bath towel!

Then you just flush it down the drain

I'm loyal to a brand as long as they are loyal to me.

How so?

You mean like if they don't change their "recipe" or more serious stuff like if they aren't sponsering something you really don't like?

when they move to Mexico for cheap labor but keep or increase the price ( Levi's ) they are out in my book.

Or- when they pay  some "prize " like Ludicris or Enima M , Dennis Rodman etc. to endorse the product.

I'm not brand loyal when it comes to politics either.

Oh yeah, I'd agree with all of that.

You would be a huge fan of my Uncle Curt. We call him captain America in the family. He REFUSES flat out to buy anything not made in America. He will pay any price to buy American.

He was telling me once that it took him six months to find shoes (I think it was shoes) that were made in the USA and he was walking around with holes in the ones he had until he found them.

I have a lot of respect for someone truly willing to put their money where there mouth is and SACRIFICE for what they believe in like that.

I wish I were more like him. With a limited budget I too often just buy whats cheap, and we all know that means it came from Taiwan.

Cheap TP works as long as it's two-ply. If you get the single ply you're gonna pay for it in other ways

I feel the need to restate my basic living philosophy here:

Do not go cheap on

1. Steaks

2. Toilet Paper

3. Beer

* and drink a ton of water and green tea every day.

** and a ton of good beer when here has to go away.

***red wine is good when you are tired with beer

****eat veggies and fruit everyday

*****if you must drink the hard stuff, stay away from rail drinks, we are not 21 anymore. When it comes to alcohol, good god, go for quality, not quantity. quality will always satisfy.

You've said that as long as I've known you. "Three things I won't cut corners on. Beer, Steak and Toilet Paper".

I stay very faithful to A-1 steaksauce, Better choice margarine, and Vive paper towels (for my baby Vani).....otherwise its fair game. With me, I think its more a matter of avoiding products I DON'T like than sticking with ones I do - y'know what I mean?

when I find something I really like its all I buy....I love pepsodent toothpaste, its as cheep as you can get but my teeth are white. I love the Walmart white cloud toilet paper, soft yet doesn't leave lint in places that lint shouldn't be. I also really like ALL laundry detergent...it doesn't make me itch.  Hmmm, what else.......oh and Downy is the only way to go....

Toilet paper that's too dusty is NOT good.

The one beer I can't stand whatsoever is Budweiser.  It makes me sick. I'm a Miller girl, myself.

I really dislike beer...Sparky is a coors light guy. He did try Red Stripe the night he got drunk last weekend. It did the trick I guess.

CAN'T.... DRINK.... LIGHT....

For as rarely as I drink beer I gotta have the leaded stuff. The light beer just tastes like slightly flavored water to me.

For my Jack n' Cokes though I'm fine with using Coke Zero or C2.
