Hey!! What's John Waite doing in that group pix. How many bands has this guy been in. I actually heard the other day that someone (maybe Scarlett Johannson?!? is getting ready to do a whole album of his covers. Lady Stange, have you heard any of this?

Ha ha, I can't believe you didn't know he was in this band! I have not heard anything about the other stuff. LS?

Actually, Scarlett Johansson is recording a cover album of Tom Waits' songs. (I get Tom Waits and John Waite confused from time to time myself - John, of course, being the better singer... at least in my opinion.) Speaking of John Waite, let's not forget he was also in Bad English with Neal Schon and Jonathan Caine from Journey.

Sorry, but I have to giggle along with Woo. Yes, that's why it was so cool when they did Bad English, because it was the 3 Babys (John Waite, Jonathan Cain & Ricky Phillips) together again!
And I did read something with her saying she was gonna do an album, but I didn't know it was gonna be covers.

Ha ha! EVERYONE is a better singer than Tom Waits! I saw Bad English in concert once.

I'd MUCH rather hear Scarlett Johannson sing John's covers than Tom Waits (whoever that is!?!)

Don't diss him till you experience him! Tom Waits is a fantastic songwriter. He wrote "Downtown Train," which Patty Smyth did such a beautiful job on for her perfect "Never Enough" album. (And which Rod Stewart did a far less-superior lame-ass version of years later )

OK. No Tom Waits. Who the heck is he and what does he sing? Hey "Running on Instint". Just wondering are you male or female? If you're up on this Scarlett Johannson stuff, we must be reading the same gossip sites. My fave is "People" and "Eonline". What about you?

To get a better feel for who Tom Waits is, I would look him up on Wikipedia or google him. He has a pretty extensive bio for someone in the entertainment industry.
To answer your question, I'm a guy.
I actually keep up with current events in pop culture through a variety of outlets: magazines, internet, television and radio. I can be a pop culture junky at times.
Hey LS: That was my first time to hear Patty sing Downtown Train. I like both versions, but THIS one is my favorite Rod Stewart song.
Dedicated by Tennessee Girl
OH YEAH! This is real Rod Stewart, not the lame adult contemporary selling-out "I have the raspiest voice in the world, but I now fancy myself a crooner a'la Sinatra" stuff.

amazing I tell you, amazing..... damn LS you so impress me!
Ah, it's just that I'm old, and it was a hit song. Also - one of the members of Brownsville Station apparently lives in CT, and when Motley played on their Theater of Pain tour in CT, he joined them onstage for that song, which is cool.

I'm with you - I never can remember who did this, but I looked it up. It was originally done by The Arrows.

Life Is a Highway: "I know the original came out in 1991 or 1992 but I don't remember the band's name."
It was Tom Cochrane. (Solo, though - not with Red Rider.)
