Morning Mema

Are you at the shop? How are things? How was Chicago? I can't wait to go next year!

Hey Ruby! Yep.. I'm at the shop, listening with pleasure.  Man, I miss being able to listen at my "real job".

Chicago was a lot of fun!  We walked for miles, shopped the Magnificent Mile... yes, it is magnificent... saw the tall ships, went on a speed boat ride, rode the double decker tour bus, rode the Ferris Wheel at The Navy Pier, and other wise lived it up.  I didn't get to eat at the one place I wanted to, so I guess I will have to go back... Chicago Chop House.  We did eat at Mike Ditka's place. That was fabulous, and Da Coach himself was there so we did get to meet him. Nice guy... very patient with the public. We even got to sit at his table after he and his party left. We even met a whole fire house full of extremely friendly and helpful firemen.  The guys at station #1 on Illinois St were nice enough to give us directions back to our hotel when we were very lost.

I'm glad I went... I needed the break. How's things going with you?

We stayed at the Sheraton Four Points on Rush St.  I thought it was pretty good and wouldn't mind staying there again.  My sister, who booked the room, said she was disappointed. She travels a lot more than I do, so I'm not sure exactly what she was expecting.  The breakfast buffet there did leave something to be desired for the money. I think her disappointment came from the check-in experience.  We got there in the morning and check-in isn't until 3PM.  We dropped off our bags and went out for breakfast and shopping. They called us at 1:30 and told us our room was ready, but when we got there it wasn't, so again we had to wait. It probably would have been better if they had just said "come back at 3" the first time.

If I had it to do over again and I had the money, I would definitely stay at the Omni.  We went there for breakfast one morning... that was absolutely fabulous! You get a choice of buffets, but the cool part is that they bring you your food. There is no standing in line to get a waffle.  The hotel is beautiful from what I got to see of it.  I'm quite sure it is a 5-star. That is where Oprah puts up her show guests. It was just a couple blocks from where we stayed.

I fell in love when I walked in the lobby!  That place is gorgeous!  I stayed in one 5-star hotel before when Kevin and I took the boy to see Niagra Falls. That place is called the White Oaks Resort and Spa in Niagra On The Lakes, Ontario, Canada.  The Omni reminded me a lot of that place as far as service and elegance.

hahaha I had a brain freeze when it came to the word "lobby". I was thinking "the foyer" or the "check in area". lobby would not come to me! but yes! that lobby is awesome! white marble, big pillars as I recall.....

I have some friends who stayed there once- $89 a night!!!! big big saving on travelosity I think during jan and feb.

I would hate to see what that place must cost now.  I should have asked my sister what the junior suite at the Four Points costed, but I don't think she would have told me anyway.  It must have been about 6 or 7 years ago that we stayed at the White Oaks, and with the discount I got booking it through Sprint and the favorable exchange rate using my credit card, it was still $100 per night for a double room.
