Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugly accident in WI

Yikes.

I heard a story on the news tonight about a guy nearby that was running a big wood chipper. It was one of those really big ones you gotta have a truck to pull.

A log got stuck and the idiot used his foot to try kicking it through. His leg got caught and he went COMPLETELY through the shredder! IT NEVER STOPPED! No peice bigger than 3 inches left!

His nephew and five other people watched it!!!!

This 70 year old dude was bawling on the TV talking about it, he wasn't related to the guy but he saw it happen.

The guy was 30 years old with two young children and a third on the way

I forget where they said it was, but I know it was not far. Maybe JS online has the story.

Sounds like a nice juicy lawsuit will come out of it. The machine has a huge REVERSE handle that apparantly wasn't working. Unless it was old equipment and they just didn't maintain it.

What a horrible way to die though. And then LEGS FIRST NO LESS! you'd experience the WHOLE thing.

How do you tell your kids about this when they're old enough to understand?

Here's the story from JS Online...

Man dies after being pulled into wood chipper

A 30-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was sucked into a wood chipper while trying to dislodge a piece of wood that had jammed it.

The man owned a tree service company working in the 8900 block of 26th Ave. in Pleasant Prairie, according to a Pleasant Prairie Police Department news release.

The man was using his foot to clear debris that had jammed the wood chipper around 5:20 p.m. when his foot became entangled in the machine, witnesses told police.

His co-workers tried to rescue him from the intake, but he was pulled into and through the wood chipper, according to the release.

The accident remains under investigation by Pleasant Prairie detectives, the Kenosha County medical examiner's office and officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Police withheld the man's name while they attempted to notify his family.

I'm not trying to be funny, but do you suppose they still need to "identify" the body?

Usually though in an accident like that a family member has to make a positive ID.

I would hate to think a wife or mother needed to sift through the peices looking for a birthmark or a tatoo or something

Oh man! I know it doesn't make it much better, but I doubt he lived through the whole thing, he probably died from shock after the first 1/2 leg was gone.

Man, this is creepy just thinking about it. But Ally has a good point, why would he kick the wood loose? And it couldn't have been too stuck since apparently he went through easily. Yeah, I see a lawsuit coming...

31 times???? WOULDN'T it be a grand idea to tape the news articles to the side of the machines for what not to do?

ACK! I was eating a sausage and egg biscuit when I opened this...

You know, once a machine has a taste for human blood, it's got to be dismantled... it's never the same.

Kinda sounds like you've watched one too many horror movies Zim!!

Although I agree, that machine would have to be destroyed now. I wouldn't want to use it, just knowing it ground a man up once.

Who, me?! Too much horror?! Nahhhhh...

But if I recall correctly, Stephen King does have a story specifically about a possessed machine - I think it became a movie too. Not Christine... I think it involved just the right circumstances to conjure a demon into the press - yeah, I think it was a press machine.

I remember that one! Wasn't it one of those movies where there were 3 or 4 individual stories? I think that was the first one.
