burgers with ketchup and mustard

got creative tonight- for burger seasoning, ketchup and mustard. BUT....BUT.....used it as a seasoning in the chuck. fabulous! dijon, a hit of ketchup, a hit of hot sauce and some black pepper. I think its really the dijon and hot sauce at work here, but these burgers rock!

I like putting different stuff in burgers and meatloaf. There a millions ways to mix it up. I made a meatloaf once with a big ole hunk of Velveeta inside! I had a burger a few weeks back with blue cheese inside. It rocked!

What kind of ham? Lunch meat or from a whole ham?

I have been buying white cheddar cheese lately- I am hooked!

It was thin sliced deli ham- lol I imagine the stuff labeled "ham and water product", just layered around the cheese in the middle of the meatloaf.

I have never seen white cheddar cheese until about two months ago. But it is great- I have been using it to make mac and cheese.

I get the white cheddar mac and cheese all the time. Annie's carries it, and it's organic. Yum!

Kevin once made what he called "meatloaf surprise"... it was his normal meat loaf but inside was a polish sausage. I have no idea why he decided on that.  As we were standing there gazing upon it, Chris (all of 12 at the time) says, "Well, it's not what I would call pleasure food, but I guess it's dinner."  I'm not a meat loaf person, so I went with pasta.

No. That is one of the very few things he will cook, and he only does because I won't make meatloaf at all.

My BF is the King of the BBQ... he'll cook any kind of meat if you'd let him.

On burgers I buy a different variety of cheeses and top them with that.  Last night we made burgers with melted chipolte cheddar cheese to top.  I have used all different types of cheese.

Here's the funny thing... Kevin has actually had 6 months of chef's training. He does know how to cook and can do it quite well when he wants to.  He makes chili, ham and beans... stuff like that and it is fabulous. He just doesn't want to cook... too much work.

I feel that sometimes too. but with grillin, I can do a lot of the prep-work outside, where I want to be anyhow. I don't think the oven has been on since spring!

and then in winter, we're kind of trapped inside anyhow, so the more complex stuff is like a hobby to while away the time. I admit I usually need a beer or two or a glass of wine to get motivated!

I have lost the desire to cook too. For years I was roll- cooking at least two new recipes a week too. But the hubby cooks now and if he does not I like to whip up something ez.
