It was a boring car. I was a nerdy kid in it.

I actually bought a new car for my first car. A white Plymouth Horizon

$6995.00 Brand new. How sad is that

Thanks for sharing. For a minute I thought you were embarrassed about driving a hearse or something.

I don't remember what year it was, but we had a Mercury Montego when I was a kid. It was bright yellow 4-door and I remember it had the "Super Snout" front. The front grill stuck out in the middle like a big nose.

Before I had my own car I'd drive around in my Dad's baby blue 81 Ford Fairmont. Now you can see that car in the movie ET. The thing started smoking from the inside one time and all the dashboard lights went up like a Christmas tree.

That Montego was ruined by the mechanic. It was in the shop for something and supposedly fixed. If I remember right, they forgot to put coolant back in the radiator and sent my mom home with it. She got a few miles out of town and it seized up and was DONE. Since it was a dealer, they made my folks a good deal on a Caprice Classic to replace it.

I had a 78 Green Grenada that my dad let me use in high-school on weekends. when I was 18 I bought an 84 Gray Renault Alliance, which laster me several years. After that I had an 84 Blue Thunderbird with T-tops, which to this day was the sweetest ride I ever had. OMG I miss that car, over a decade later. It had shady paper-work and had been owned in several states, and I had to get rid of it. but oooh did that sucker hum and respond to the gas pedal....

First 2 cars were kinda nerdy  , just to my liking JD.  But the Thunderbird was a nice car, I remember being a teenager and wanting one of them too.

My first car was a burgundy 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix.  Talk about a gas guzzler.

I can't believe that you were embarassed JR- you had a car- that is ALL that is important. it is funny cause the boy is already asking about his first car and I told him that I HEAR NO EVIL! We will cross that bridge next year. My first car was a 1984 Buick Regal- brand new, I wrecked it the first night- not my fault and my dad took it away when he got his insurance bill I alwyas had a good car- dad worked for GM and got BIG discounts on new cars. My fave was my 1976 lack and gold trans am!

That is it exactly- I have some real pix at home- he took that one away after two months and gave it to my brother

I loved the CB radio, I used to have one and my handle was "Ponytail", I used to talk to other people and truckers.  Now I realized most of the guys and truckers were perverts because the CB radio is the 1980's equavelent to "chat rooms" now a days.

Brake 19 for Ponytail, you got your ears on? This is Sparky over....

Except back then my Handle was "Woody"

It eventually changed to Sparky after the electrocution incident.
