Ga. Man Cleaning With Blowtorch Sets Fire To House West Georgia Man Sets Fire To House While Using A Blowtorch To Clean Cobwebs From The Eaves
SARGENT, Ga., Nov. 6, 2008
(AP) Would-be cleaners take note: A blowtorch is not a good substitute for a broom.
Coweta County authorities say Galen Winchell set fire to his west Georgia home Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves with a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.
Coweta Fire Investigator James Gantt says the fire was contained to one part of the house, but the entire home had smoke and water damage.
No one was hurt. No phone number was listed for Winchell.

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Call it confidence, or maybe foolishness. A day after allegedly robbing a woman of her purse, a 19-year-old man walked into a Milwaukee police station to inquire about the arrest of his 18-year-old girlfriend for an alleged robbery.
Sgt. Mark Stanmeyer said the man didn't disguise himself when he walked into the station's lobby Tuesday night, so Sgt. Willie Lee recognized him.
Lee and detectives had watched - about five hours before - the surveillance video of the purse snatcher outside of a clothing store and reviewed it again after seeing the suspect to make sure it was the same guy.
The suspect is currently on probation for robbery and detectives think he and the woman may be responsible for several other robberies in Milwaukee.
