OK, I had fun with the concert t-shirt thread, so lets take it further.....

First Concert? (be honest, if even if it was the Brady Bunch, the Osmonds, etc)

First was U2 back in the 80s- favorite is a toss up- Duran Duran cause I love them, but not that spectular to call it the best. Either Aerosmith or KISS, both were very intense and a lot of fun!

1st: Elton John Thanksgiving night 1975 was also the last time John Lennon appeared in concert (It's the "There" side of his live album "Here & There"

Fav: Any Bruce Springsteen show I've seen, although the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ in the late 70's may top it off

Saw some country concerts when I was a kid that I don't really remember.

First one I remember is ShaNaNa, followed by Air Supply.

Favorite?  No way- Too many hundreds to choose from!  When I do my own year-end awards (like the Grammys), I struggle to choose my favorite just for that year!

So SG, you saw John Lennon's last performance?  That's cool.  I saw Eric Carr's last one ever.

As for live albums, I've only attended one - Zebra played 2 nights straight for their live album, and I was there both nights.  Been to a lot of videotaped events, though- for TV, home videos, etc.

Woah!  You saw FIONA with Bryan too?!  Cool!  I was actually more psyched for her than for Bryan!

first concert Dec. 30, 1980 -- Jethro Tull, I remember the date because it was on my 15th birthday.

Favorite Concert:  --- > Aerosmith, live and upclose.  They played here locally at an amusement park when I was in my teens, and I was so close to the stage I caught Joe Perry's guitar pick.... (which I lost a few years later, when my wallet was stolen, it was inside the wallet)....

I don't recall there being anyone scheduled before FIONA joined the tour, but it's possible.  (It was a looooong time ago!)

Let me know - I'm interested in seeing what your ticket says.

I have all my concert tickets in a photo album, in chronological order.  LOL!  I am such a music geek!

Was the Jethro Tull show a birthday present?  If so, from whom?

Bummer about getting your wallet stolen!  And I bet the $ you lost was nothing compared to the sorrow over losing the pick!

The tix were a gift from a girlfriend..... and she is still my friend till this day.

And yes, I remember not being at all sad about losing my $$ (cuz there probably wasn't any money in it anyway)  BUT the guitar pick, I was mad at that being stolen.  I often wondered whoever stole my wallet, if they even knew who's pick it was, or why that was in there.

The first gig I went to was The Boomtown Rats... It was their very first gig after Live Aid in 1985. I did not want to go but my mate beggrd me to go so she wouldn't be on her own

I went, I saw...they did 45minutes...i did not enjoy, (except for "I don't like Mondays"...and was glad when it was all over...though we did go and loiter in the carpark for autographs  and got em. I still have them somewhere,

The best gig was Chris de Burgh...open air at Alton Towers... Awesome evening. Chris never lets us down. He was scheduled for 2 nights a Friday and Saturday... On the Friday he did his back in and the Fri show was cancelled... I fretted all day Saturday but climbed aboard the coach which I was going down there on...clutching my little ticket...

Chris appeared ....his roadies lifted his guitar on and off for him...and sometimes his TENS machine interfered with the sound system... He did 2 and a half hours and i think he was running on pure adrenaline cos his mobility improved as the night went on...The atmosphere was just High on Emotion...the weather was warm all evening...and there's never been a gig like it......AWESOME...THANK YOU CHRIS DE BURGH

sorry lol

I do the ticket stub in the photo books too! Except I haven't updated in 2 yrs- all my tickets are still in my change jar since then! got to get on that! But with summerfest here in town, there are more shows that I've seen without tickets, than with tickets. At summerfest, unless its in the main ampitheater, its just general admission. like the fiona, brian adams- just walked up to like the 5th row and held it for the night.

I have the same situation. Usually when you're on the guest list, you don't get a ticket. Also a lot of clubs will just stamp your hand & call it a day, so alas, there are tons of shows I don't have tickets for. But JD, that's what the excel Concert List file is for! -

1st concert was Bon Jovi in the summer of 89. Skid Row opened for them up in Alpine Valley, WI. The very best was Metallica in 1991. I got to go into the "Snakepit" with 4 of my girlfriends. Since we had the worst seats in the place, people with the band must've felt sorry for us- so they let us into the area under the stage where they practically could sweat on us. This was the very best concert EVER.

you know, I think awhile back I started keeping little lists of all the summerfest shows I saw for a particular year.....sadly not soon enough tho! I mean, if a name/ a band comes up, I will instantly know if I saw them or not, but I really really do love the ticket stub books! Its  like a journey through life! There isn't one ticket in there, for 20 yrs, that I can't point to and remember that night again!

That's cool. Reading your story just brought back a memory I hadn't thought of in years! Twisted Sister on the "Come Out & Play" tour. Dee called out 2 kids from the very very back - had the spotlight shine on them, and had the crew bring them onstage. I think they sang a chorus with him or something. god I love Dee... (sigh...)

You're right. I wish I went to concerts more often. I did that more often when I was younger. Is there a concert anyone would've wished they could've seen that they didn't?

I think it would've been neat to see Michael Jackson back in the early 80s before he turned into a white woman.

I double checked mine - it just says "Bryan Adams."

So when you saw Duran Duran, whose side of the stage were you on?

Oh I do not remember that! But I DO remember that we waited outside the back of the arena and got to see them get out of their limos! I did not have a camera! I do have some good shots though when I did that when I went to see Whitesnake
