Seems like we're mostly focusing on lyrics, here. And I don't want to put up full songs, because I find you lose attention that way - I'll just put some of my favorite lines. So a few quickies, and I'll add to this more later. (Love this idea, kids!)
I think I mentioned this before as being amongst my favorite lines. It kind of sums up life perfectly.
"So many faces in and out of my life, some will last, some will just be now and then. Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes, I'm afraid it's time for goodbye again." - Billy Joel

Here's a quickie that makes me sigh. I often wonder who exactly came up with this, and what the inspiration was. (One of the questions I plan to ask them when I actually get to spend more than 30 seconds with them...)
"She turns chaos into art" - Hanson

I think these lyrics are really clever. And with Collin Raye's gorgeous voice and the music, it just kills me! When I met Gary Burr last weekend, I mentioned this song, and did a little worship-type bow to him. Well-deserved- I mean, how do you come up with this stuff?!
Please spend a moment with these lyrics:
THE TIME MACHINE Written by Gary Burr
He circled and stared, nervous and scared, he knew both the thrill and the cost But he didn't think twice - this amazing device was his last chance to see what he'd lost If time is really a river, and upstream's where he needed to be He set his sights on the past, finished his glass, and went back in history
To the casual eye it's a bar stool, but it's really much more than it seems A few drinks and then she'll be with him again as he sits on the time machine
Like all pioneers, he swallowed his fears and watched the whole room fade to black He's dying to go, but he's no fool, he knows how hard it will be to come back But tonight he's tired of the lonely, and tomorrow will not be the cure So he'll just slip away, find yesterday, and spend one more night with her
Now as far as these customers can tell, he's just one more fool who talks to himself But every man in this place would line up if they knew what that seat really was
To the casual eye it's a bar stool, but it's really much more than it seems A few drinks and then she'll be with him again as he sits on the time machine

Terrific moral here. This one is for all you work-a-holics out there...
THE DOOR INTO SUMMER written by Chip Douglas & Bill Martin
With his fool's gold stacked up all around him, from a killing in the market on the war The children left King Midas there, as they found him
In his counting house where nothing counts but more
(Is that not just the most amazing line - In his counting house, where nothing counts but "more" - Oh my God!)
And he thought he heard the echo of a penny whistle band
And the laughter from a distant caravan And the brightly painted line of circus wagons in the sand
Fading through the door into summer...
With his travelogues of 'maybe next year' places as a trade-in for a name upon the door; And he pays for it with years he cannot buy back with his tears, When he finds out there's been no one keeping score
And he thought he heard the echo of a penny whistle band
And the laughter from a distant caravan And the brightly painted line of circus wagons in the sand
Fading through the door into summer...

Just heard this great line last night. From James Christian's album, "Meet the Man":
From "Leave Well Enough Alone" by Robin Randall, Judithe Randall, Claude Gaudette:
You want me to love you the way I did before But you've got one hand on forever And one foot out the door
