Bummer for Duran Duran fans

Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has once again left the band, leaving
the original line-up without a guitarist while trying to record their
new studio album. This statement comes from the band:
"To Our Fans
We know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over
the past few weeks regarding Andy Taylor's continued involvement with
the band and we are sorry that we've been unable to provide you with
more information until now. The past five years have been an incredible
journey for us all - and having the original five back together was
something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last
weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and
will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a
point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf
between us and we can no longer effectively function together. Although
obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about
the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing
you all soon.
Simon, John, Nick and Roger."

I love Andy.  He was always the "rocker" of the band.  What makes you think he's doing drugs, JD?

Well, sure it did - Steve Jones played on that album!

No way, JD.  Andy Taylor's first album, Thunder, totally rocked!  I'm surprised a couple of songs from it aren't on the request list.  (Oddly enough, Thunder is listed in the FFR CD Library.)  It would be great to have songs like I Might Lie, Don't Let Me Die Young, Thunder and Tremblin' on the request list.  It's a shame that Andy Taylor has once again left the band.  He kept Duran Duran from losing any legititmate rock edge that they had and prevented them from sliding off into strictly synth-pop territory.  Let's hope that Duran's newfound association with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland doesn't screw them up so much that they end up with some psuedo-rap-boyband sound.  (Maybe that's why Andy is no longer in the band?)  The silver lining to this very dark cloud is Andy Taylor is now free to work on another solo album.  I, for one, hope he does.

I agree, Roger and Andy Taylor lent the band some legitimacy. They were never pretty boys. On the drug scene, I know that my first love (John Taylor) was a coke addict, not sure about the rest. It is a shame though, I would love the chance to see them again.
