I wasn't too hot over the last 2 or 3 seasons, but the early years were great.  Definately a classic of 1980's television.

It was!

It had such a great "feel" to it.

I just know that so many memories are gonna flood back watching that show again

I CAN'T WAIT!

It's so odd because it was a lousy 30 minutes a week but my ENTIRE childhood seems somehow tied up in the show. I think I just really wanted to BE in the Keaton family

Are you thinking of VEGA$?

I don't know Craig, I doubt Family Ties would hold anyones interest today.

It was a schmatlzy family comedy that followed the typical format from back in the day. Act 1 a problem develops, act 2 you deal with it, act 3 you resolve it happily and every learns a good lesson from the day

I loved it though. It was a little unique in that Alex (Michael J. Fox) was a die-hard republican, very business man-like, wanted nothing more to be a part of corporate America while both of his parents were ex-hippies that still believed in a lot of those values.

I just loved it. I can't wait! I hope they put the whole series out and don't stop after just a year or two. I'll buy a couple dozen copies if I have to just so sales are good

(Just do you know HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SHOW, I will buy two copies, one to keep unopened and one to play the hell out of, there is NO other show that I ever have done that for or would do that for!)

Craig, here is a silly question for you. When you are watching shows from the US do our accents stick out in your mind while watching? Or do you guys get used to it. Here we only get one British channel, BBC so it's really different to watch it.

This may sound weird but i have sat tv and watch so much stuff from the States that i sometimes think im losing my accent! besides the old english accent can sound really corney sometimes. especially in old movies.

I always wondered how that worked! Like here we have people with southern accents, Boston accents and even midwest accents. When you tell someone you like their accent they say huh? I don't have an accent you do!

Craig, we used to watch Vega$ all the time. It was a cool show and Robert Urich was a cool guy in real life from everything I ever read. I felt really bad when he passed away.

I don't really notice it too much either... i couldn't spot regional accents though but can just about spot the deep south ones

i think it was the last show i could watch on tv before i had to go to bed! i think i was about 9 or something. strange thing is though out of all the shows repeated on tv vegas has never been repeated! evan Streethawk has been on. great theme tune though. also Robert Urich seemed very down to earth guy.

a lot of Family Ties is extremely dated (it's totally a product of the Reagan era, so if you're fond of the 80's, you'd love it, if the 80's makes you cringe, you might not) but I thought it held up quite well when it was on Nick At Night and TV Land a few years ago.   The show pretty much pioneered the "age a baby six years" thing with Andy (which IMO was when the show began to decline) but it was a quality show.

NBC hands down had the best sitcoms in the 80's IMO.

Andy WAS a bad move, but the kid did have some EXCELLENT lines. I loved how he looked up to Alex.

I remember him running in the kitchen once as a little six year old, all excited to tell Alex that Gold closed up that day

Or he'd ask Alex to watch the McNeil/Lehrer report with him

I liked Michael J. Fox in general, still do. But this was the first role I saw him in and in grade school & even high school I kind of tried to emulate him (without the good grades of course)

Michael J. Fox is an all-around great guy.   I heard there were talks that he feels up to making a fourth Back To The Future movie.

Or Ultimo

I have me a real southern accent now y'all, but when I moved here, oh how I hated to be told to say certain words! Apartemtn, car, etc...

I loved the show too, he was a dream man, part of the reason Political Science was my major and I loved the family love aspect. I would recommend it to someone that has not seen it.

Oh I absolutely loved Family Ties! I mean I loved MJF but the show was just awesome. Andy was a bit annoying but I loved the brotherly thing they had.
