The words we've dreaded to hear: Billy Idol has recorded a Christmas album. No, not a rock Christmas album. Just a straight-forward re-recording of the usual classics. Frosty the Snowman, White Christmas, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen ... a total of 17 excruciating tunes.

Fans can listen to some of the songs and view some videos at Billy's MySpace page. I'm warning you right now: You're going to be dumbstruck. You might laugh. You might want to gouge your ears out with a Bic pen. Or you might even be so moved as to round up all your Billy Idol albums and grind them up in the garbage disposal. (Don't do that. It's never really a White Christmas without Billy, bourbon in your egg nog and "Blue Highway.")

The CD -- "Billy Idol Happy Holidays" -- is set for release on Nov. 14. The first 500 people to preorder the album get a hand-signed Christmas card from Billy. (I'd rather have a handwritten note of apology.)

        A bit more info, he had a slow hit with " if u were her tonight" also HEARSAY, the lovers. if u can get any of his songs that would be cool! Also do u remember a track by Brenda Russell called "piano in the dark" late 80s awesome slow type track.

Starting on Thanksgiving we mix in one holiday song an hour. The week to 10 days before Christmas we do one song every half hour.

Christmas Day we're totally off the air, although this year I'm considering staying online and having ALL Christmas music that day, just in case someone wants to have us on as background at their home.

After Christmas in the past we've immediately gone back to no Christmas music, but this year we might do one song an hour until January 1. We'll wait and see how festive everyone is by then.

We try not to over-do it because people get sick of the X-mas music so fast. But we have a LOT of stuff from popular rock & pop artists, it's not just the really old stuff.

I love the remakes by current artists.  Stuff from A Very Special Christmas is great as are some other rock artsist versions of their x-mas songs (McCartney, Elton, Billy Quier etc.)  Looking forward to it!

Did that happen last year Ruby?

The way the system is set up is to play the LEAST played song every hour. So if there are 100 songs in the file it will only play each song once every 100 hours. There should be NO repetition!

In fact, it usually goes the other way, there are some I would like to hear MORE often (Like "Do They Know It's Christmas" that only come up in the cue maybe 4 times all season!. Of course, I pull it up manually a few more times )
