HAH!

Not really! Well, sort of.

My recent run of bad luck on the job, along with some other factors have had me doing a lot of thinking about what direction I want my life to head in over the next decade or so. Last week I made the decision to give my two week notice, since I had a vacation scheduled for next week I'm officially done with my job as of this moment

I'll be taking the dive into self-employment again on three different fronts, knowing one of them will only be a nice but unreliable source of extra income, I'm hoping one of the other two will develop into something special.

As most of you know I ran my own business for about 8 years before 2003 and I've been itching to get back at it ever since. I'm taking a bit of a risk, but you always have to do that when you start a business (the first time I spent six months sleeping on a recliner in the store-room of our office so that I could save all my would-be rent money to put into the business).

I've got savings that will keep me floating for quite awhile as I work toward building the biz up again, so this time will not be as difficult as it was 11 years ago.

Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, you're all gonna be stuck with me A LOT more now since I'll be working NORMAL HOURS and of course I'll be working from home.

I have every confidence they will.

I'm fortunate in that I've never been one of those people that has felt the need to be a multi-millionaire.

All I've ever wanted is a comfortable living, being able to enjoy life without constantly feeling under pressure from things I don't control.

WIth reasonable expectations acheiving success should not be a problem. I've already gotten to a point where I was more than happy with my income level and lifestyle. It unfortunately didn't last. This time it will because I've learned from the past and will make some smarter choices in the future.

But the prayers are STILL needed and appreciated!

I agree, my son always says I could be rich if I wanted to be, and that is the part that is so true- IF I wanted to be. I do not want to work too hard or too many hours and miss life and my kids. I did well in college, but I am happy making an honest living balanced with being a mom! Too much money is not all it's cracked up to be.

Good luck JR.

You've been self-employed before so you know what you're in for. There is something to be said for that stable, reliable paycheck that you know will be there on the specified payday. But, the freedom that comes from setting your own hours and the reward for doing what is necessary is hard to beat.

I would probably have more take home money if I would take a job here in town doing something I hate. In the lean months, my wife sometimes kind of wishes I would do that, but then something happens and I can put the "closed" sign on the door and go take care of it. She thinks that is a good thing too.

I know that if you can get the business you need, you'll do great. You have a fun personality and gosh darn it, people like you!

I am currently in the position of unemployment...by choice only!!  Taking the time to stop and smell the flowers for a while!  I got a new job that starts at the end of January next year so have much time to explore and relax for a while!  Exactly what I wanted.
