April 2007 season one!

YAY!

As you would expect though, there will be a lot of music substitutions since it would cost a fortune to arrange deals with the original artists of the music that was used.

Still tho! TOO COOL!

Yeah!

With Family Ties already on the way out, and SNL in stores now, I think this is it, I think all the shows I wanted will be out on DVD.

I think MOST of the reasons I enjoy them is to look at the background stuff- the old cars, telephones, hairstyles and clothing etc of the 70s and 80s....

it's a real shame that shows like SNL and Miami Vice (which was to it's period what WKRP was to it's) made it to DVD with all music entact and Fox releases WKRP with musical edits.   Nothing worse than when there's references to the songs/artists that you couldn't negotiate on the DVD.    The worst case ever has to be on the late 90's series Popular when Carmen and Ms. Glass are working out, the music used on the show is generic techno music from the period, but then Carmen even points out, "do you ever listen to anything besides Sheena Easton when you work out?", and that was definately not Sheena Easton music playing in the DVD version of the scene.

Anf,

I still say the WORST case of this is Las Vegas and their inability to secure rights for their theme song! On TV they use A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION by Elvis to open the show, and it was obvious they edited the opening montage to fit the song, it's a perfect song that sets the right tone for the entire show.

On the DVD that damn Presley estate wanted so much money for rights the producers claimed it would have cost $10 extra bucks per DVD season set to include it (which frankly I would have preferred to have paid but I can see why they didn't want to do it).

The replacement song is horrible and does NOTHING to add to the feel of the show.

The worst TWO things about is is that 1) Las Vegas is a new show, these idiots should have locked up the DVD rights immediately and 2) I just know that at some point they'll get the music rights and reissue the DVDs, at which point anal-retentive me will have to go and rebuy them all
