If I remember right, a Yule log is basically just a huge hunk of tree trunk.  Burns for a really long time.  Everybody around here has gas log fire places, so they like to go out at Christmas time and buy Yule cakes... cakes made like jellyrolls that are decorated to look like tree trunks.

HEHEHEHE... sure do know a lot about a holiday I'm not all that fond of. Guess I like the storybook notion of peace, love, and happiness which is not what really happens.  Commercial mayhem and stuff like that just doesn't do it for me.
