We've been mixing up the NMW the last few months, sometimes having New Music Weekend when a major artist has a new release, or a New Artist Weekend when like last week we find an independent artist we want to share with you.
Now we throw a third style into the mix, the Lost Music Weekend. This features a CD that was not well-received originally, despite being generally thought of as a good CD.
We'll also be doing Classic Album Weekends in the future (that ones kind of self-explanatory).
Anyway. THIS WEEKEND is Bonnie Tylers "ANGEL HEART". I would encourage all of you that are thinking "aww crap, Bonnie Freakin' Tyler? REALLY?" to give this album a fair shake.
Bonnie has always had a great voice for rock & pop, and personally I think this is one of her best CD's.
Here's the AMG review:
Bonnie Tyler is at it again with this full-length offering titled Angel Heart. A lot of the American public might know her best for her work with big stars like Meat Loaf, but she had made a place for herself in the music world with a solo career as well, long before the United States and her duets with others.
Tyler has landed huge hits with songs like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Holding Out for a Hero," and "It's a Heartache."
On this album, Angel Heart, fans will find a pleasing mixture of ballads and upbeat pop that showcases the wonderful, husky voice of this singing star. Some of the top-notch tracks on this offering included "Race to the Fire," "Fools Lullaby," and "All We Have Is Tonight."
Firstly, I'd like to say that this is a great idea. And I think "Never Enough" should be featured... well, ... at least every 3 weeks.
Personally, I hate Bonnie Tyler's voice, and have ever since I was a little girl. But as you all know, I dooooo love Desmond! And that Steinman guy ain't half bad either.
And I've heard from people who've worked with her that she's a helluva nice lady. And she sure does know how to gravitate toward a good song! I looked up the songwriting credits for this album to see if was the usual cast of characters, but only recognized one Mutt contribution. So yeah - color me curious!
