I knew it would happen. Finally fed up with my cellular phone company I called ready to just give up on cell phones.
I told the Verizon rep I was going to switch the Sprint (A lie, I was just going to go phoneless) because of their "fair and flexible" plan. I told him how I'm sick of overage charges, and this month was the worst. I told him I'm tired of my "contract" resetting to 2 years every time I make a change to my plan, which I HAVE to do because my needs keep changing.
Well MY OH MY, did I get the red carpet rolled out. They can't offer the same plan as Sprint, but they dropped this months overage charges, gave me a free month of a higher plan, DIDN'T reset my contract date for doing this and told me I can have a brand new phone for free! And not a crappy one! It's a very nice $250 phone on their website that they offer to new customers for $150.
I agreed to stick with it for a little longer, but it ticks me off you ALWAYS gotta threaten to leave before companies treat you like you have any value.
Cable & Phone are like that. Call and tell them you're cancelling your DSL or Cable Broadband, you won't BELEIVE the deal they'll give you.
Last year I did that for both services, the cable went from $49.95 to $34.95 (and I've been told they actually now will drop it to $14.95 so I'll be calling again).
The DSL dropped from $49.99 a month to $19.95 when I said I wanted out.
